Q: What inspired you to start Dimension Coaching?
Starting a coaching business has always been something I wanted to do at some point in my life. I’ve always enjoyed helping others and seeing them become the best version of themselves. After experiencing the loss of three family members within ten months – my grandmother, uncle, and father – I realised that life is too short to wait for the ‘right time’.
This loss inspired me to take the leap and start Dimension Coaching, where I could devote my life to helping others grow, heal, and achieve their aspirations. It became clear that this was how I could use my loss as a catalyst for change and create something truly meaningful. Throughout his life, my dad made it his mission to help others as a firefighter. Dimension Coaching is my way of continuing that legacy and making a difference in people’s lives.
Q: What personal or professional experiences influenced your decision to become a coach?
I’ve worked in various managerial roles over the last 13 years, and coaching team members and customers has been a significant part of the jobs. During this time, I discovered how much I enjoyed helping others develop and succeed. My interest in science, philosophy, psychology, spiritualism, and mindfulness has influenced my coaching style. I’ve spent a significant amount of time researching these areas, constantly expanding my knowledge to create a well-rounded and versatile coaching style that addresses the diverse needs of my clients.
I’ve seen first-hand the tremendous positive impact that great coaching can have on people’s lives, not only helping them achieve their goals but also improving their overall outlook and sense of purpose. This understanding fuels my commitment to make a significant difference through Dimension Coaching.
Q: What is the core purpose of Dimension Coaching?
The core purpose of Dimension Coaching is to help individuals unlock their true potential and realise the power they hold within. It’s about more than just setting and achieving goals; it’s about teaching people that they can shape their own lives and overcome obstacles. Through personalised guidance and support, I help clients gain clarity on their aspirations, identify the limiting beliefs that may be holding them back, and develop practical strategies to move forward.
By equipping individuals with the tools to take actionable steps and make informed decisions, the coaching process fosters a sense of ownership and confidence that extends beyond achieving specific goals, leading to lasting growth and fulfilment.
Q: Can you explain the principles that guide your coaching practices?
The principles that guide my coaching are based on the Buddhist concept of the six perfections: generosity, effort, moral discipline, concentration, patience, and wisdom. These values guide how I live my life and coach others.
The principles outline an interconnected approach to personal development. They assist clients in cultivating a growth mindset while also acknowledging and accepting life’s complexities. This encourages a compassionate and disciplined approach to facing challenges and allows clients to navigate difficulties with resilience and grace.
My coaching is based on practical methods for retraining the mind to think differently and find solutions to problems. These techniques can benefit anyone and are presented in an easy-to-understand manner, often through stories and metaphors. I’ve seen positive results from using these approaches with myself and others.
Q: What challenges did you face when starting Dimension Coaching?
One of the biggest challenges I faced was dealing with the grief of losing my father. Starting the business during such a difficult time tested my resilience, but it also motivated me to push forward and make him proud. This personal challenge became a driving force, shaping my commitment to helping others find their own resilience and purpose.
Q: What are some of the most rewarding moments you’ve experienced as a coach?
There are so many rewarding moments to choose from, but the most fulfilling experiences occur when people realise they can change their mindset. You can see and feel the transformation in their eyes, body language, and renewed confidence in their voice.
What makes these moments even more meaningful is seeing clients carry that momentum forward long after our coaching sessions are over. They don’t just achieve their initial goals; they continue to grow, evolve, and reach new heights, usually accomplishing far more than they ever imagined possible. Knowing that I played a part in helping them achieve this long-term change and seeing the impact it has had on their lives is extremely rewarding. It reminds me of why I started this journey in the first place.
Q: What advice would you give to someone thinking about hiring a coach for the first time?
Imagine being lost in a jungle. You have to find your way out because the longer you stay, the more dangerous it becomes. If you wander, you may eventually get somewhere, but it could take a long time and might not be where you expected. Worse, you may find yourself in even greater danger.
A good coach acts as a map and a compass, guiding you out of the jungle, providing insights along the way, and helping you reach your goals safely and efficiently. If you’re tired of feeling lost in your pursuit of your goals and want to achieve them quicker, a coach can be a valuable resource.
